Dan Slaughter JD is a California residential real estate Broker based in San Francisco and licensed since 2013. He represents buyers, sellers, and investors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and specializing in single-family homes, condominiums, TICs (Tenancy-in-Common properties), and small apartment buildings. Dan combines extensive real estate experience with a 25-year background as a commercial litigation attorney in a global firm based in downtown San Francisco. Through that experience, he developed the analytical skills, negotiation experience, attention to detail, and risk assessment abilities that he now applies to help clients navigate complex real estate decisions. From evaluating properties and market conditions to negotiating contracts and guiding transactions through closing, Dan provides a thoughtful, careful, and informed approach to every client relationship.

 

As a longtime San Francisco homeowner, landlord, and experienced fixer-upper, Dan is well aware of the challenges and opportunities that come with owning property in the city. He understands the practical considerations involved in renovation projects, design decisions, permitting, condominium conversions, tenant issues, and investment properties. He uses this firsthand experience in advising clients not only on transactions, but also on the broader realities of owning and improving real estate in San Francisco.

 

Dan has lived in San Francisco since 1997 and has developed deep familiarity with the city’s neighborhoods, architecture, housing market, and evolving urban landscape. His clients benefit from his combination of local market knowledge, legal experience, and a measured approach to problem-solving.

 

Originally from West Virginia, Dan earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, where he studied History and Russian Studies. He moved to California to attend UCLA School of Law and built a successful legal career before transitioning his expertise into real estate.

 

Beyond real estate, Dan remains engaged with the San Francisco community through his interests in architecture, urban planning, opera, fashion, art, and travel. Together with his interior designer husband of 25 years, and their two bite-size companions Helga and Gretel, Dan is committed to supporting causes important to him, including service with Lambda Legal as a national board member, President of Mt Olympus Neighbors and charitable contributions supporting the city’s cultural landmarks and public spaces, and LGBTQ+ organizations.
